Ulverston Golf Club were the host club for 2024 NC Big Six.
Our team consisted of (in order of play):-
1. Will Bowe (Workington GC) 2. Jack Hunter (Workington GC) 3. Kerry Morrow (Ulverston GC) 4. Luke Quint (Ulverston GC) 5.Kieran Waters (Carlisle GC) 6.Will Coxon (Carus Green GC) & reserve Craig Morrow(Seascale GC)
The morning rounds set off very promising with Cumbria top of the table.
All the teams battled against a vigorous wind which whipped up in the afternoon making conditions, on especially the last two holes, very difficult indeed.
Cumbria had an 11 shot lead going into the afternoon round but the Lancashire team managed to reduce it to 2 shots with Cumbria needing to Par their way in on the last 2 holes.
An extremely fortunate drive from Will Coxon of Carus Green saw his ball stay in play & with a chip onto the 18th Green and 2 putts it was enough to give Cumbria the win by 1 shot.
What a rollercoaster finish to the day and a fabulous achievement from our players, who now go forward to represent the Northern Counties the end of September at Whittington Heath Golf Club.
